I was formerly known as Geoff Lumley - I changed my name by Deed Poll on 8 May 2017 to the surname I was born with.
I have been a parish, then community councillor for Pan & Barton since 2008 and the Isle of Wight councillor for that ward since 2005, having been elected five times to each role.
I was the first Chair of the Parish Council from 2008-10 and initially steered Newport towards parish status as Chair of the Newport Town Management Committee between 2006-08. Between 2010-14 I was the parish's lead finance councillor and I have resumed that role since May 2016. In both May 2017 and 2018, I was again elected to be the Parish Chair. I was then elected Chair of the renamed Community Council in May 2021.
On the Isle of Wight Council I was the Chair of the Scrutiny Committee between 2006-07 and again between 2013-15. I was Chair of the Employment Committee 2015-17. In May 2021 I was elected by colleagues as Chairman of the Isle of Wight Council. I am also Vice Chair of the Planning Committee at County Hall.
I issue my own newsletter to Pan & Barton residents two or three times per year and have done since 2005. 52 editions up to March 2021. It always has an article of community council news as it effects Pan Barton.
