On Sunday, 12 July 2015 Newport Parish Council hosted its Summer Fair at Victoria Recreation Ground. Sadly, despite promising weather forecasts at the beginning of the week, it was a fairly drab day weather-wise but nonetheless everybody that turned out seemed to enjoy themselves. Entertainment was provided by the Tea N Biscuit Boys, pictured below, in addition to a gripping magic display by local magician and entertainer Huxley.
Also pictured below is the moment the ribbon was cut, marking the official handover of the Recreation Ground from the Isle of Wight Council to the Parish Council securing the future of the ground for Newport residents for the next 99-years. Cutting the ribbon was Neil Shutler, grandfather of current Newport Parish Council Chairman Cllr Julie Jones-Evans, who is an honorary member of Newport Cricket Club and who has been making use of the ground for 92-years.
Newport Parish Council would like to thank everybody that took part on the day, assisted or simply turned up to enjoy the entertainment.
